Nationwide extemed their age limit on free travel insurance
Nationwide, the building society thats also like a bank, is claiming a UK first as it adds free travel insurance for those aged up to 75 to its free current account.
Previously, the upper age limit was 65 for new customers but from 21st September, the Society is extending the upper age limit on its FlexAccount travel package, where the account is used as a main current account.
According to the society, banks that offer travel insurance as part of their packaged accounts charge monthly fees of between £10 and £20, while buying similar European travel cover from an insurance provider for a couple aged over 75 would cost between £120 and £220 per annum.
Other benefits of the FlexAccount include 35% off five-star home insurance. They do no provide cover for travel insurance for over 80 though.
Cruises are not just for older couples
The cruise industry is attempting to change the perception of people towards taking a cruise as a holiday instead of more traditonal package holidays. The Over 86 age group looks set to benefit.
Some companies have even gone as far as encouraging people who are on their own to go in singles holidays.
As always you should always ensure you have adequate cruise holiday insurance if you take on of these trips. Golden age of non package holidays seems to be over!
Imagine the situation. You have booked the trip of a lifetime. You spent hours on the internet researching and booking the flights, the hotels, concert tickets, an excursion and timed entrance tickets to a popular museum.
